School Minivan Operator for 26-27

ABOUT THE ROLE

Berkeley Rose is welcoming applications for Grades After School Teacher for the 2026/27 academic year. Successful candidates will enthusiastically engage students and work collaboratively with colleagues and the parent community to create an educational environment aligned with Waldorf pedagogy, our school mission and program goals. The ideal candidates will have experience working with children.

Overview of School Minivan Operator

This is an important role in the daily logistics of our school. The School Minivan Operator will drive a Honda Odyssey 8-passenger minivan between the Lower School campus on Ridgway Ave and the Middle School campus on Park Blvd. The operator is responsible for the safe transportation of students, following designated pick-up and drop-off schedules, completing daily vehicle safety checks, and maintaining the vehicle in safe and good working condition.

Schedule: A total of approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes per day.

  • Morning: 7:45am–8:45am (1 hour), reporting at the Park Blvd campus.

  • Afternoon: 2:30pm–3:45pm (1 hour and 15 minutes), reporting at the Park Blvd campus.

  • Scheduled time includes student pick-up and drop-off as well as regular vehicle maintenance such as checking tire pressure and filling gas.

  • Ideally, the School Minivan Operator will be available for both the morning and afternoon schedules. Applicants who are available for only one schedule are welcome to apply, with priority given to those available for both.Qualifications

  • 1 or 2 years of Experience working with children

  • Be enthusiastic to learn about Waldorf Pedagogy and take on Training if required

  • Enthusiasm and flexibility

  • First Aid/CPR training

  • Mandated Reporter Training

  • Reliability and punctuality is a MUST.

  • Well-versed in computer skills and email.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely drive the school minivan between the two Berkeley Rose campuses to transport Middle School students.

  • Maintain a clean driving record as a condition of employment and continued employment.

  • Follow all safety requirements when driving the school van, whether or not children or other passengers are in the vehicle.

  • Maintain a calm, respectful, and orderly environment with students in the minivan.

  • Perform and log a daily pre-trip vehicle check, including brakes, fluid levels, lights, and safety equipment, before putting the van into service.

  • Maintain a log of children traveling in the minivan on each trip.

  • Follow emergency protocols according to school policy.

  • Strictly adhere to the designated pick-up and drop-off schedule.

  • Help maintain the van in a safe and good working condition, including checking tire pressure and fuel.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid California Driver’s License — standard, non-commercial Class C driver's license.

  • Clean DMV driving record.

  • Must pass a Department of Justice background check/fingerprinting.

  • Demonstrate safe driving practices.

  • Dependability and punctuality are essential.

  • Ability to maintain a calm and respectful environment while working with students.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Part-time position, approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes per day. Hourly rate of $40 for the 2026/27 school year.
