Grades After School Teacher for 26-27
ABOUT THE ROLE
Berkeley Rose is welcoming applications for Grades After School Teacher for the 2026/27 academic year. Successful candidates will enthusiastically engage students and work collaboratively with colleagues and the parent community to create an educational environment aligned with Waldorf pedagogy, our school mission and program goals. The ideal candidates will have experience working with children.
Overview of Grades After School Teacher
This is an essential role in the day of many children at the school. The teacher is responsible for a wide age-range of children (6-12 year olds). The teacher is responsible for creating and following a daily and weekly rhythm that gives these children the opportunity to partake in appropriate crafts, story-time, rest-time and activities, and have time to play and relax, in close collaboration with the After School Program Coordinator.
Be able to engage with and manage 20-24 children in the After School Program, from ages 6 to 12. Engage with students through crafts, games, knitting, story time, and other activities.
Be present to monitor and direct play as necessary in order to ensure a harmonious rhythm in the play yard.
Be able to manage paperwork, such as the Attendance list, account for the children in care and be able to check out on the Attendance sheet as children leave for the day.
Keep inventory of After School supplies such as paper, pencils, clay, yarn, balls, hoops and other material.
Ensure the play yard is left in a clean condition - Teachers to direct children to put away toys/material in use.
Be able to attend to minor injuries, inform the on-site Admin for assistance and write down Incident reports for record and for parent communication.
Qualifications
1 or 2 years of Experience working with children
Be enthusiastic to learn about Waldorf Pedagogy and take on Training if required
Enthusiasm and flexibility
First Aid/CPR training
Mandated Reporter Training
Reliability and punctuality is a MUST.
Well-versed in computer skills and email.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Part time position approximately 15 to 20 hours per week. Hourly rate of $31.50 for the 2026/27 school year.
